Eastern Carolina Vocational Center Inc. has an opening for a CLEANER/FLOOR TECH, PART-TIME in the JANITORIAL DEPARTMENT. This position is responsible for keeping buildings and grounds in a clean and orderly condition. Perform duties such as cleaning floors, glass, and removing trash/recycled material. The primary function of this position is to maintain floors, VCT tile, carpet, ceramic tile, bathroom floors, clinic floors, lobby floors, and hallway floors. Stripping, waxing and carpet cleaning are required. Other general housekeeping duties are cleaning rooms and other work areas so that health standards are met; clean carpets using vacuum cleaners, empty wastebaskets and transporting other trash and waste to disposal areas. Be able to sweep, scrub floors using brooms, mops and powered scrubbing and waxing machines. Dust and polish furniture and equipment. Keep storage areas and carts well-stocked, clean, and tidy. Person is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing all locations with ECVC.

Hours: Mon – Fri; 5:00pm - 9:00pm

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Monitors building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created.
Carry bathroom items and cleaning supplies, using wheeled carts.
Services, cleans, and replenishes supply in restrooms.
Gathers and empty trash or recyclable materials.
Dust and polish furniture and equipment.
Clean windows and mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and cloths.
Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, or vacuuming them
Sweep, scrub floors using brooms, mops and powered scrubbing and waxing machines.

Other Duties

Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures
Scrubs, waxes, and/or polishes floors using mops, powered scrubbing and waxing machines
May be assigned to a specific area of responsibility or asked to work or help-out other areas requiring help

Physical Demands

Medium work with lifting and/or moving objects up to 20-50 lbs. occasionally, 10-25 lbs. frequently, and up to 10 lbs. constantly.
Ability to hear and speak
Constant standing/walking
Good visual acuity
Ability to reach, handle, finger
Frequent stooping, crouching
May assist in the movement or relocation of furniture

Education and Experience

No specific education required.
1-year experience in floor waxing and stripping and various floor machine use.
Requires a valid driver's license and clean driving record

Position Requirements:
Background check must be favorable to work in multiple office buildings. Dependable transportation and excellent attendance are expected.
