PT Order Filler

Eastern Carolina Vocational Center Inc. has an opening for a Part-Time Order Filler in the Shipping Department. This position is primarily responsible for filling customers’ orders from stored merchandise in accordance with specification on order forms.
 
The hours for the position are Monday - Friday; 8:00am – 12:00pm.
 
Some of the Essential Duties and Responsibilities are:

• Reads order to determine the quantities of different orders to be shipped out.
• Obtains products from prepack line, flow-racks or stage locations.
• Affixes label to filled order (when there are no orders).
• Packs and unpacks items to be stocked on flow-racks or shipped out.
• Straps boxes and place on pallet to be wrapped.
• Shrink wrap products to be shipped out.
• Reads work orders or receive oral instruction to determine work assignments, materials & equipment needs.
• Fills orders for Commercial Shipments, Frames, Batteries, Lugs, Large Storage Batteries (CAT), etc.
• Verify order by type of material, item number, lot number, and possible description
• Assembles and stacks boxes for batter packaging
• Make boxes and affixes pre-printed labels for containers
• Assembles crates or boxes to contain products or supplies
• Packs boxes with batteries
• Maintains the proper level of supplies for employees and clients and assists them if needed.
• Maintains work area in a neat and orderly manner.
• Build pallets for Rain Barrel orders

 Physical Demands

• Medium work lifting and/or moving objects up to 20-50 lbs. occasionally, 10-25 lbs. frequently, and up to 10 lbs. constantly.
• Ability to hear and speak.
• Frequent standing/walking.
• Good visual acuity including depth perception.
• Ability to reach, handle, finger.
• Occasional stooping, crouching.
• Repetitive use of hands/arms.

Work Environment

• Work around moving machinery and equipment
• Exposure to noise

 Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Minimum of 3 months working in an industrial setting is preferred.
