As a PRE-ETS Specialist, you will lead high school and post-secondary students with disabilities through pre-employment classroom activities. The individualized activities will be related to job exploration, job readiness, socialization, self-help skills, self-advocacy, and interview skills. You will provide vocational assessments and community job shadowing. Maintain positive interactions with community agencies, schools, students, and parents. Conduct outreach and build connections in schools and communities.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
- Effectively provide job exploration counseling to assist students with determining their job interests through vocational assessments and setting up opportunities with community employers for job shadowing or internships.
- Offer students instructions in self-advocacy.
- Plan and provide pre-employment services to students based off of their needs and interests. Maintain a weekly schedule in an approved program format.
- Develop and maintain interactions with community organizations and education institutions for the purpose of outreach, activities, and positive relations.
- Works as a team member to address participant's needs and goals.
- Keep accurate and updated files.
- Attends staff meetings and after-hours events as requested.
- Acts as a professional advocate for persons with disabilities
- Coordinate transportation for students to and from work experiences and other Pre-ETS activities in the community.
- Assures and maintains compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, standards, laws, rules, and regulations.
- Job is integral to school operation and student presence; therefore, scheduling, and vacation requests will follow the ECVC operation calendar with manager approval.
- Networks and establishes working relationships with neighboring schools, employers, and businesses in the surrounding area for job sampling or shadowing opportunities.
- Maintains ongoing communication with the students, teachers, and the Pre-ETS Manager regarding the student's progress and status.
Other Responsibilities:
- Create and distribute ECVC promotional materials.
- Participate in IEP meetings as appropriate.
- Collaborate on special projects with other staff members.
- Additional job responsibilities will be assigned as the need arises.
- This full-time position requires a flexible schedule to meet student needs.
- Work is conducted in Eastern North Carolina schools, communities, and the ECVC office.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree with at least 3 years in educational, transitional, or vocational rehabilitation services.
- Three (3) years of experience in program oversight and development working within K-12 systems is preferred.
- Must be able to work with students with multiple disabilities ages 14 to 21.
- Excellent organizational skills. Must be able to schedule, prioritize assignments, and juggle multiple tasks.
- Valid driver’s license and safe driving record to transport clients in company vehicles.
