The NC Pre-K Teacher Assistant supports the lead teacher in creating a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment that promotes academic, social, and emotional growth for all students. Key responsibilities include:

• Assisting with the adaptation and delivery of classroom activities to support individual learning plans within established lesson objectives.
• Supporting communication with parents and guardians by contributing to student progress updates, reinforcing learning goals, and encouraging at-home engagement.
• Providing regular input on student progress toward learning goals, offering meaningful feedback to the lead teacher, parents, and school leadership.
• Collaborating with the lead teacher, school staff, families, and community partners to enhance student outcomes and support school improvement efforts.
• Demonstrating instructional strategies and classroom routines that align with curriculum goals and individual student needs.
• Supporting classroom activities, including guiding volunteers or student workers, to ensure a productive and inclusive learning environment.
• Modeling appropriate social behaviors, such as conversation, manners, and classroom routines, to promote positive peer interactions and independence.
• Monitoring students across various settings—including the classroom, playground, field trips, and rest periods—to ensure safety and engagement.
• Helping plan and lead age-appropriate indoor and outdoor learning experiences that foster participation and skill development.
• Participating in team meetings and professional development to stay informed and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
• Assisting in maintaining student records, including attendance, assessments, and required documentation, in compliance with program guidelines.
• Responding to student needs and emergency situations promptly and appropriately to ensure student safety and well-being.
