SOCIAL WORK SUPERVISOR III
Salary Range: $70,338-$111,170
Primary Purpose of Position
The primary purpose of the Adult Protective Services Supervisor is to provide personnel and programmatic management, as well as supervision to the Adult Protective Services Unit. The Adult Protective Services Unit is primarily responsible for the evaluation of reports of maltreatment of disabled adults and providing services to alleviate confirmed maltreatment. The Adult Services Supervisor coordinates all service referrals within the unit and must have good working knowledge of each program within the unit as well as the agency as a whole. The Supervisor must be familiar with all funding sources such as Social Services Block Grant, Home and Community Care Block Grant, Adult Protective Services Fund and Adult Home Specialist Fund and Medicaid. Policy and operational strategy decisions are reviewed with the Program Administrator for professional input, criticism, expertise and approval. Whenever changes in policy or procedure are imminent, it is the Supervisor's responsibility to provide information, training and rationale in order to facilitate a smooth transition and expedited implementation both within the agency and the community as well.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of methods and principles of casework supervision and training. Considerable knowledge of social work principles, techniques and practices and their application to specific casework and community problems. Considerable knowledge of behavioral and socioeconomic problems and their treatment and governmental and private organizations and community resources. Considerable knowledge of the laws, regulations and policies which govern social work programs. Ability to supervise, train, or orient lower-level social workers, students, interns, or other staff. Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely and to plan and execute work effectively.
Minimum Education and Experience
Master’s degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of directly related experience; or a bachelor’s degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of directly related experience; or a master’s degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of directly related experience; or a bachelor’s degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of directly related experience; or a bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and five years of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid North Carolina driver's license required. Bilinguals encouraged to apply. DD 214 is required from applicants claiming a military preference.
