HUMAN SERVICES DEPUTY DIRECTOR- PUBLIC HEALTH
Salary Range:       $93,187 - $147,284

Primary Purpose of Position 
This position performs supervisory and administrative duties for the Administrative Division.  Assurance of compliance with NC Public Health Law and Program Guidelines by carrying out the responsibilities and supervision of fiscal and budgetary operation, purchasing, clerical and computer operations, physical building operations, as well as administrative assistance in the absence of the Health Director for the department.  Assessment of program input and objectives is reviewed with division directors/program managers to assure effective/efficient measures are taken in obtaining fiscal goals.  All information received and provided to employees out of the normal standard business practice is shared with Health Director. Work as liaison with other county agencies collaboratively with health director.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 
Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of public and business administration.   Considerable knowledge of modern office procedures, practices, and equipment.  General knowledge of personnel, purchasing, and accounting practices and procedures.  Ability to plan and direct fiscal and business services.  Ability to select, train, and supervises employees engaged in business operations.  Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, other state officials, and the general public.

Minimum Education and Experience 
Master’s degree in public health administration, public health discipline, or public administration and two years of management experience in a health-related agency, with a preference for one year of management experience in a public health agency; or, graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a public health administration or public health field and four years of management experience in public health.
