Lower School Coordinator

The Oakwood School seeks a dedicated and collaborative Lower School Coordinator to join the Administration Team for the 2026-2027 school year. Successful candidates will exhibit flexibility and adaptability with students in grades PK3-3rd. The ideal candidate will actively participate in the life of the school beyond the classroom and perform other duties as assigned.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the chief educational leader for the Lower School, responsible for day-to-day operations and for directing faculty in the performance of their duties.
  • Partner with members of the senior administration to provide leadership, direction, and informed decision-making for The Oakwood School.
  • Serve as the PK3-3 administrator for student matters and parent concerns.
  • Assist Admissions Director with Lower School admissions process.
  • Facilitate scheduling of Lower School classes.
    Provide academic oversight for all Lower School students, including supervision of grading practices and reporting methods used to measure student achievement.
  • Observe, supervise, and evaluate all Lower School personnel.
  • Attend weekly administrative meetings.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students and families built on trust, understanding, and respect.
    Maintain a consistently positive and professional demeanor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • A Master’s degree in School Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • At least five years of experience in a school setting, with preference given to candidates who have worked with elementary-aged students and served as a Division Coordinator or elementary school leader.
  • A desire to work in a diverse and inclusive school environment.
  • A commitment to collaborative leadership and support of colleagues.
  • Knowledge of current, research-based best practices in education and the ability to apply them in alignment with the mission and values of The Oakwood School.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of constituent groups, both verbally and in writing.
  • Understanding of the social, emotional, and academic needs of Lower School students.
