Eastern Carolina Vocational Center Inc. has an opening for a Pre-ETS Transition Specialist. This position is responsible for providing PRE-ETS services as described on the PRE-ETS service plan for eligible students. Coordinate with key stakeholders to ensure appropriate training and documentation are maintained in these services.

Some of the Essential Duties and Responsibilities are:

  • Effectively provide job exploration counseling to assist students with determining their job interests through vocational testing, setting up opportunities with community employers for job shadowing and samplings.
  • Offer students instructions to self-advocacy.
  • Plan and provide pre–employment services to students based off of their needs and interests. Maintain a weekly schedule in approved program format.
  • Develop and maintain interactions with community organizations and education institutions for the purpose of outreach, activities, and positive relations.
  • Works as a team member regarding participant’s needs and goals.
  • Keep accurate and updated files.
  • Attends staff meetings as requested.
 
Physical Demands
  • Sedentary work with lifting and/or moving objects up to 10 lbs. occasionally, sitting most of the time.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others.
  • Good visual acuity including depth perception, color discrimination, and peripheral vision.
  • Ability to reach, handle, finger.
  • Repetitive use of hands/arms
 
Work Environment
  • Frequent interruptions
  • May handle difficult clients/customers.
 
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree with 3 years in educational, transitional and/or vocational rehabilitation services. 
  • Three (3) years of experience in program oversight and development working within K-12 systems.
  • Must be able to work with students with multiple Disabilities ages 14 to 21.
  • Be able to work in a team environment and manage communications between schools and community agencies.  
  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record to transport clients in company vehicles.
