Job Title: Community Outreach Coordinator

Schedule: This is a full-time position that reflects the rhythms of our ministry and community. You can expect regular early morning meetings, on-call evening availability for events and volunteer coordination, Saturday events throughout the year, and participation in Sunday HIA church days. You will also attend Sunday night program meetings from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM at least twice per month. Flexibility and a servant-hearted approach to scheduling are essential.
Role Overview:
The Community Development Coordinator is a relational, mission-driven role at the heart of how HIA grows its impact. You will build and steward the relationships that fuel our ministry, connecting donors, volunteers, churches, and community partners to the life-changing work happening inside our program. Key Responsibilities:
Donor Development and Fundraising
- Maintain a high level of relationship accountability across HIA's existing donor portfolio, ensuring every donor feels known, valued, and connected to our mission.
- Research prospective donors, businesses, foundations, and philanthropic networks, and develop cultivation strategies in partnership with leadership.
- Conduct regular virtual and in-person visits with donors and prospects, documenting every interaction to keep the pipeline moving and relationships thriving.
- Lead solicitation efforts with both new and existing donors, providing high-level touchpoints that reinforce organizational impact.
- Plan, host, and execute multiple fundraising events each year, including invitations, database management, public speaking, and on-site relationship development.
- Collaborate with board members, events teams, and volunteer groups to design donor cultivation and stewardship experiences that deepen engagement.
Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of all donor interactions and communications in the CRM database.
Volunteer and Church Engagement
- Facilitate and grow partnerships with churches, community organizations, and other agencies that share HIA's values and mission.
- Create meaningful volunteer opportunities aligned with individuals' skills and gifts, and coordinate program residents for volunteering and recruiting activities.
- Properly and genuinely thank every volunteer and donor for their contribution to the mission.
Events and Community Presence
- Organize Sunday night program meetings end to end, including booking speakers, coordinating meals, managing set-up and tear-down, and ensuring follow-up.
- Post timely updates and mission-aligned content to HIA's social media platforms.
- Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence with professionalism and care.
- Travel in-state and out-of-state as needed during event seasons.
Requirements:
- A genuine passion for HIA's mission and a personal faith that drives your work.
- Natural charisma and the ability to inspire, motivate, and build rapport with diverse groups of people.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to speak confidently in front of audiences.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and relationships simultaneously.
- Self-motivation, reliability, and a forward-thinking mindset that keeps you moving without being told.
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends and to cold-call businesses and individuals in pursuit of the mission.
- Ability to identify and access local community resources and funding opportunities.
- Physical ability to support event logistics, including lifting up to 30 pounds.
Qualifications:
- One or more years of experience in public speaking, sales, nonprofit development, or public relations.
- Proven ability to work independently and manage your own priorities in a fast-moving environment.
- Prior experience in a fast-scaling organization.
- Familiarity with Google Suite and Salesforce or comparable CRM platforms.
- Experience in meeting and event planning.
