Reporting Relationship: Victim Advocate Supervisor
Serves: Pitt County
Job Summary:  Responsible for providing direct services to victims of domestic and intimate partner violence including court advocacy, domestic violence protective order assistance, Victim Compensation services, core services and outreach.
Salary Range: $35,900-$38,900
 
Qualifications:  The Direct Services Advocate is required to have an undergraduate degree in a human services field and two years or more of experience as a court advocate in a domestic violence setting. This position must have good verbal and written skills. This position requires training and certification under the NCVAN Certification Program and Address Confidentiality Program which must be obtained within the first year of employment.
 
Direct Services Advocate Duties/Functions:
 

  • Document criminal and civil incidents
  • Assist clients in filing domestic violence protective orders
  • Accompany client to court appearances
  • Provide safety planning and risk assessments for victims
  • Assist clients in filing for victim’s compensation       
  • Assist clients in applying for the Address Confidentiality Program
  • Stay current on all domestic violence laws
  • Enter client data into the database
  • Research and coordinate emergency assistance for housing, utilities, transportation, school and community resources
  • Prepare all reports and monthly statistical data for program area and submit on time
  • Act as the lead representative from CFVP on the DVFRT team
  • Coordinate Lethality Assessment Program (LAP)
  • Provide coverage of LAP hotline
  • Prepare LAP hotline schedule
  • Provide LAP training to LE officers and staff as requested
  • Assist in planning and coordination of the annual domestic violence vigil
  • Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings and in-service trainings
  • Submit required reports on time to Supervisor and Director of Resource Development and Planning
  • Assume all other duties as requested by Supervisor or Executive Director
