About Us

As the dean and an alumnus of the East Carolina University College of Nursing, it is my pleasure to welcome you to our college! Established in 1959, the college has a rich history of educating exceptional nurses who are making a difference in the health care of individuals in our region and beyond.

We are designated as a National League for Nursing Center of Excellence, and our innovative online offerings consistently earn us recognition among the top distance education programs in the country according to the U.S. News and World Report. As part of ECU’s Health Sciences Division – which comprises nursing, dentistry, medicine and allied health sciences – interprofessional education is at the heart of what we do.

Across all of our programs, we are focused on student success. You will find dedicated faculty and staff who are committed to academic excellence and to providing a quality learning environment for students. State-of-the-art simulation labs, a student development and counseling center, a student services center with advisers, smart classrooms and an expert technology team support the needs of students.

Research and scholarship are an integral part of the ECU College of Nursing, which afford students the opportunity to work with faculty to advance nursing science and address health issues. Our tradition of service learning, community engagement and leadership also contribute to our nursing excellence.
