STAFF DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST III
Salary Range: $62,180-$98,272
Primary Purpose of Position
The primary purpose of this position is to support the achievement of mandated outcomes across the Social Work Division by overseeing training and development for social workers, supervisors and managers and providing oversight of the Quality Assurance program to ensure compliance with federal and state requirements and assist with the improvement of quality service delivery for clients. This position will primarily manage the training and development of new social work staff and interns who perform Child Welfare and Adult Protective Services. Work involves the management and implementation of a division-wide training plan focused on performing essential functions, enhancing quality service delivery, and aligning training with the rules, laws, and policies that govern the provision of Child Protective Services Assessments, In Home Services, Foster Care and Adoptions, and Adult Services. The employee provides professional development, support and feedback. Work involves ensuring the proper administration of various programs, ensuring compliance with applicable Federal, State and local laws, rules and regulations, monitoring program expenditures, surveying and developing programs, coordinating with outside community agencies for the provision of assistance and services and interpreting policies and procedures. Work is performed under the general direction of the Department of Social Services Director and is evaluated by a review of records, reports, discussions, client and trainee feedback, observation and overall quality of work. The individual in this position must stay abreast of all agency social work evidence-based initiatives in order to continuously develop staff professionally and to assist staff with their training needs as well as adapt and be flexible to adjust to a wide scope of trainings that must be personally delivered. In addition, this position will network with other professional experts in the field to participate and assist in developing staff. This position will develop practices that will ensure a safe work environment and safe work practices. This position targets developing advanced competency-based trainings to the social work staff and other human service case workers.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Considerable knowledge of techniques and methods of conducting formal and informal training programs. Considerable knowledge of theory, practices, and principles of human behavior. Ability to adapt and communicate information to a wide range of audiences and situations. Ability to formulate ideas and communicate them effectively in oral and written form. Ability to interpret and administer federal and State guidelines and apply them to individual programs.
Minimum Education and Experience
Graduation from a four-year college or university and three years of experience in a progressive training or teaching role; must include experience in organizing training events, assessing needs, counseling and evaluating sessions; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid North Carolina driver's license required. Bilinguals encouraged to apply. DD 214 is required from applicants claiming a military preference.
