Join us for kayaking, pedal boats, massages, bounce houses, wellness activities, and food trucks at our second annual community Wellness at Wildwood event in partnership with the Building Resilience and Courage to Excel (BRACE) coalition! The mission of Wellness at Wildwood is to promote wellness, build resilience, and spread awareness on the prevention of child abuse throughout the community. The Wellness at Wildwood event is on Saturday, 4/6, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Wildwood Park.
MPPFC is a local non-profit organization that funds programs in early literacy, quality early child care and learning, assistance finding child care services, parent and family support, and health care during the first 2,000 days of a child's life to roughly the time between a child's birth and the day they arrive for their first day of kindergarten. Studies show that 90% of a child's brain development occurs during the first five years of life, and early childhood experiences build the foundation for future learning.
Our partnering coalition BRACE operates as a collaborative referral network to reduce Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) in Pitt County and increase resilience in children. BRACE includes members of law enforcement, social services agencies, mental health practices, childcare providers, the health department, physicians’ offices and university researchers. We want to empower the community to build a culture of resilience to lessen the impact of trauma through collaboration, education, advocacy, and compassion.
