You are invited to join with A Time for Science Nature and Science Learning Center and the Carolina Skies Astronomy Club for the Summer Solstice Star Party, Saturday evening June 25 - weather and cloud cover permitting . The location is at the A Time for Science Center between Ayden and Grifton at 5345 Contentnea Lane, Grifton, NC 28530 (see directions on the website www.atimeforscience.org).
Telescope viewing will begin after sunset (around 9:00 pm). A variety of telescopes will be available for viewing. Saturn and its rings should be in view as will some deep sky objects. A tour of the summer constellations and stars will be presented later in the evening.
Bring the family early and see some of the other Space/Astronomy items on display.
• See, touch, and learn about the nose-wheel tire from the Space Shuttle Endeavour, that recently completed its last voyage into space.
• Tell Time With Shadows on the Equatorial Sundial recently installed and on display.
• Walk the Solar system model which has been reproduced to the exact scale in both planet size and distances between planets
