About Us

Uptown Brewing Company began when Billy Dunn saw a need for a quality craft brewery that Greenville could call its own. He and his brother Donald were already experienced entrepreneurs, and had lived and worked here all their lives. But they needed someone with real experience in craft beer to make the product. Ben Self was working as a quality control manager at a local brewery when Billy and Donald approached him with the project. They believed that the right location, the right beer, and the right culture could become something truly special in the burgeoning Uptown District.

Ben is a big believer in beer as comfort food. We want to quench your thirst with delicious, consistent beer that East Carolina is eager to drink. We are fascinated with the styles that have made the American craft movement the envy of the world, and we're ready to make our mark here in Greenville.
