At MHAworks, we are devoted to designing buildings and spaces that help to improve the health, productivity, and overall well-being of its occupants. In addition, we seek to implement sustainable design practices into our projects to ensure the needs of future generations and our natural resources. We do this through our membership on the US Green Building Council and the numerous LEED APs on staff.

We endeavor to complement our clients vision, goals and program with building design and interior design that is creative, insightful and best suited to the needs of the individual client. Our designs are not self conscious and more often than not, will seek to blend with the environment in which they are situated.

We are confident that we have a successful process because repeat clientele provides more than eighty percent of our work.

MHAworks is a progressive architecture firm serving clients in the Carolinas and Virginia from offices in Durham, Greenville, Asheville, and Pittsboro North Carolina. Founded in 1988 by Michael J. Hining, AIA, the firm now has a staff of 30 professionals providing architecture, interior design and planning. We approach each project adhering to the specifics of our client's site, program, aesthetic, functional and financial criteria.
