Magnolia Place Participates in Junior League’s Little Black Dress Initiative

GREENVILLE, N.C.— Magnolia Place Obstetrics Gynecology & Wellness, a provider of women’s care and well-being announced its participation in a local Little Black Dress Initiative (LBDI) hosted by the Junior League of Greenville, NC. The fundraiser runs, Monday through Friday, the week of April 25th, 2022 in an effort to raise awareness of the food insecurity that is ever-present in eastern North Carolina. Food insecurity refers to the USDA’s measure of lack of access, at times, to enough food for an active, healthy life for all household members and limited or uncertain availability of nutritionally adequate foods...this circumstance is particularly devastating to children. Did you know, in Pitt County that 31% of children are classified as being food insecure? As a community, we can change this statistic, and therefore Magnolia Place is aiming to reach a goal of $5,000 in donation funds to contribute to the Junior League’s cause.
The Little Black Dress Initiative is a week-long, social media-based fundraising campaign that was initially launched in February 2014 by the Junior League of London. The mission surrounded awareness of poverty and its effects on women in society. Today, Junior Leagues across the world take on their own LBDI that utilize the influence and community of social media to raise awareness of social causes that their respective communities face.

The Magnolia Place mission and vision were born out of a thirst to serve women, families, and our community in a way that honors and fulfills their needs to the fullest potential. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve in medicine but also appreciate stepping into our non-medical roles to serve and uplift our community. Simple acts of service afford endless opportunities to empower others, create meaningful relationships and experiences that change lives,” said Dr. Rowe, doctor, and co-owner of Magnolia Place OBGYN & Wellness. “We chose to support Junior League of Greenville, as they share the very same passion and it resonates in their mission statement. The Junior League of Greenville, NC is a non-profit organization of women committed to promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.”
The Magnolia Place Obstetrics Gynecology & Wellness model of healthcare redefines the way that eastern North Carolina envisions women’s healthcare. Their mission embodies a new women's healthcare space, featuring unique wellness services, that will feel like a safe haven from the moment their members walk through the door. As part of their mission, they strive to give back to our eastern North Carolina community and provide valuable resources for community members to thrive in their health and well-being. By partnering with the Junior League, The Magnolia Place Team aims to raise awareness about hunger and food insecurities that exist among the neighbors of our community and through collaboration maintain a top-of-mind awareness that will one day lead to eradicating this disparity. Magnolia Place aims to help bring our community together and contribute to funding the path to feeding the Pitt County community.
Each donation supports a sustainable mission for our community. All funds raised through the LBDI go to the Junior League Greenville Annual Fund, along with organizations throughout eastern North Carolina that are impacted by food insecurity. These efforts combined afford a foundation that is a solid platform and by partnering with community organizations and connecting volunteer members with training, leadership, and personal development opportunities, Magnolia Place aims to raise awareness and funds to combat food insecurity within our communities in eastern North Carolina. Junior League of Greenville, NC: The Little Black Dress Initiative(LBDI) is a social media fundraising campaign that the Junior League of Greenville, NC is embarking on as part of our mission to empower women in our community. Through it, we aim to bring awareness to and help alleviate the effects of food insecurities in our area. Junior League: Founded in 2014 by the Junior League of London, the Little Black Dress Initiative (LBDI) is a week-long awareness and fundraising campaign that harnesses the power of social media to illustrate the restrictions poverty places on choices, opportunities, and access to resources. Advocates wear one black dress (or outfit) for five consecutive days, in an effort to spark conversations and awareness about poverty and related issues.
