DESCRIPTION:Celebrate the importance of small business to Pitt County.Businessman Extraordinaire to speak at Small Business Breakfast Jeff Beals is set to be the guest speaker for the Chamber’s 2008 Small Business Awards Breakfast on May 6\, 8 a.m. at the City Hotel and Bistro.  Beals will discuss the secrets of effective self marketing.   Beals’ uniquely diverse career makes him the ideal person to reveal and explain the secrets of effective self marketing.  As a commercial real estate executive\, radio talk show host\, newspaper columnist and part-time college professor\, Beals understands how to synthesize wide-ranging experiences into one very successful career.Jeff Beals currently serves as Vice President of Coldwell Banker Commercial World Group\, a commercial real estate company\, which provides brokerage and property management services to clients in Nebraska and Iowa.            Along with Trenton Magid\, he is co-host of Grow Omaha\, a popular weekly talk-show on News Radio 1110 KFAB. Beals writes a bi-weekly column called\, “T-Squares & I-Beams” for The City Weekly newspaper. Altogether\, he has published more than 200 articles in national and local periodicals.Since 2003\, he has served as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Nebraska at Omaha\, where he teaches a real estate sales and leasing course in the College of Business Administration.Before entering the real estate profession in 2001\, Beals served as Dean of Student Services and Director of Enrollment Management at Clarkson College. In 1993-94\, he worked as Assistant Director of Admissions at The College of Santa Fe in New Mexico.Beals holds a Master of Arts degree in Political Science and a Bachelor of Journalism degree both from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. In addition to his active career\, Beals finds time to stay involved in his community and his career field. He lives with his wife Stephanie and son Jack in Omaha\, Nebraska.  Small Business Leader of the Year to be honored at awards breakfast Highlighting the 2008 Small Business Breakfast will be the presentation of the 2007 Small Business Leader of the Year Award\, presented by the Chamber and the Pitt Community College Small Business Center.
